The FREE app for the upcoming art trail, Octopus Ahoy! in celebration of the
Mayflower 400 and 150 years of Clacton, is now LIVE! and available to download
on both Apple and Android. KAT are delivering the project on behalf of Tendring
District Council, which has included the app’s design and build for this large-scale
community event, ensuring the platform is user friendly and optimised for all mobile
devices.
The app features a map that displays the different locations
of each octopus sculpture, so that you are able to plan your route in advance
of the trail launch on the 25th June (it’s getting close!). You can
also discover more about the talented artists who have designed and painted the
4ft sculptures, the wonderful Octopus Patrons who have sponsored the programmes,
and the many schools who have designed and painted a small sculpture as part of
the amazing education programme and outreach.
Perhaps the most exciting feature of the app is the rewards
and prizes! When you are ready to venture out and track down some octopus
sculptures from the 25th, be sure to use the app to scan the QR code
found on each sculpture. By scanning the code, not only will you log the
octopus as being found and get closer to reaching the app milestones, but you
will unlock one of the many rewards and prizes! From funky octopus bracelet
charms to complete afternoon cream teas, what will you be looking to collect
first from the trail this summer?
For those who are looking to get their step count up this
summer, this trail is the perfect activity for you, with a built-in step
tracker in the Octopus Ahoy! app counting your every move as you discover each
art sculpture around Essex.
The launch of the trail is edging closer and closer, and the
KAT team can’t wait to see these wonderful works of art out and about in Essex,
bringing colour and joy to the local area.
Download the app now and get ready for the launch on the 25th June!
