New Year, Chinese Year, whatever year – 2020 is the year of the octopus, you mark my words.
Well, for Essex anyway. Octopus Ahoy! In Celebration of the Mayflower is the summer trail, taking place from 4th July-12th September, over 100 octopus sculptures will be out and about on the streets of Tendring, Colchester and across the region.
We’ve had over 100 artists’ submissions so far and we’re looking forward to the 4th March event where sponsors can choose their artist and design and we can announce the octopus line up!
Will it be an ‘An Octopus Garden’? Or ‘Octopussy’? ‘Octopirate’? Or perhaps ‘Picassopus?’ Maybe some other contenders? We’ll all just have to wait and see!
One thing we do know, all the submissions have been of the very highest quality and we are set for an action-packed campaign that allows you to see places in ways you’ve never seen them before.
The Octopus Ahoy! app will be ready to down load from 1st July – with hundreds of thousands of prizes to be enjoyed by those that scan the QR codes as they go round enjoying this free family fun activity of 2020.
