COLCHESTER QUIZZING

24 May 2019

KAT loved launching an annual Colchester quiz in association with Barclays Bank at the Wivenhoe House Hotel this month – in aid of The Ark Centre for autistic children.

Teams of avid quizzers came together to raise over £4,000 at an evening of fundraising, with all proceeds from the event donated to help the centre expand its operations, in order to support a larger number of autistic children.

The amazing Tim Field, Commercial Solicitor at Birkett Long, was a quiz master extraordinaire on the evening and all game Colchester businesses enjoyed venue-sponsored charcuterie, cheese boards and hot drinks. A prize draw offering up wine-tastings, hampers and memorabilia helped to raise further funds on the night.

Newsquest’s very knowledgeable journalistic team managed to take home the title after a stellar display of their general knowledge, with Version Events winning the bonus round by building a real floating ‘ark’.

Sarah Day, Co-Founder of The Ark Centre, said: “We’re so grateful to KAT Marketing and all the quiz supporters – amazing amount of funds raised! All monies impact our front-line services for local children with autism. Thank you again to one and all.”

Simon Cudmore, Area Business Manager for Barclays Bank, said: “Very happy to get involved with the KAT Quiz – it was a very enjoyable evening and all in support of such a worthy cause. Our team have enjoyed helping out and it is always rewarding when you hear back from the charity about the difference it can make in our own community.”

The trophy sits proudly at Colchester Gazette’s offices until they must come back to defend their title in 2020 – will they remain Colchester’s top quizzers? Only time will tell!
